Pioneer PL-51a Classic ’70s Direct Drive Turntable

Pioneer-PL51a-TurntableHere we have a classic Japanese direct drive turntable from the ’70s. Original released in 1974, featured a super quiet brushless DC motor, heavy weight plinth and a funky S-shaped arm. The latter was specifically designed to handle light weight cartridges and Quadraphonic records just starting to hit the market at the time.

This one is in great condition and will give a great performance, whilst exuding a cool retro feel, and all set to go for a bargain price.

  1. Hi there Thanks for posting this article about the PL51A
I brought mine in Melbourne in 1974 it was a 51D and it gave me many years of fabulous music until I brought my first CD player in the late 80’s and now of course it’s all mp4’s and the like.
Thank you for the good memories !!!
