To celebrate Luxman’s 50th anniversary in 1975, they called upon Tim de Paravicini (of EAR fame) to design a power amplifier. The result was the monster M-6000. This was subsequently cut down slightly for the M-4000 and M-2000 power amplifiers, which shared identical design, just lower power output.
These amps contain two huge power transformer to give a fully dual mono design, on the M-6000 these are 1kW each! Four protection circuits are employed to ensure nothing goes amiss. Output is shown by two huge VU meters and two sets of LED’s to indicate peak output. This is a cracking amp, built to an outstanding level of quality and will give it owner many years of great performance.
Also look out for the super rare Luxman M-4000a, which uses a MOS-FET Duo-Beta design and had a better signal-to-noise ratio.
