These unusual Japanese stand mount speakers have cabinets designed like a guitar, in a 2-way bass reflex design. They are the result of a partnership between Onkyo and Takamine, famous for acoustic guitars. They feature Onkyo’s A-OMF “Monocoque” diaphragm covered bass driver. The ring drive tweeter is no less special, apparently having a flat frequency response upto 100kHz!
Sensitivity is quite low at 80dB, so they will need a meaty amp to drive them and likewise, they are rated to handle up to 200W. The D-TK10’s are universally well reviewed (see link below) and rated for their excellent deep bass, clarity and emotional portrayal of music. These speakers were initially released in 2006 and cost $1999 (USD).
